The Front Gardens

The Front Gardens are the plantings along the sidewalks in front of the Center and in the beds in front of the wall on the east side of the Center.

The beds on the west side of the sidewalk are rain garden beds.  The plants in these gardens do well in soil that is often wet from runoff.  The land slopes down to the Center and there are water drains at the base of the slope.

The plantings on the west side of the pathways are devoted to plants that appeal to butterflies, moths and their caterpillars.  Remember, if you want to have butterflies, you must first feed the caterpillars.

Because so many plants in these gardens are the same, the plant listings are combined.

Over the next year, we plan to create a page each month, showing the gardens in bloom.
