Project FeederWatch
August - Who Will Fly By?

Project Feeder Watch ended in April.  After several years of compiling statistics, we are confident that we can predict which species of birds will come to our feeders each month.  The most common native birds you will see in August are Mourning Doves and American Goldfinches.  Robins and Purple Martins are on the grounds of Lakeside Nature Center, though they aren't feeder birds.  While they are not birds, White-tailed Deer, Eastern Cottontail Rabbits, Eastern Gray Squirrels, Raccoons and Opossums enjoy the seeds at our feeders and slake their thirst at the stream.

You'll see lots of hummingbirds preparing for their migration to Brazil.  The first of the winter birds has appeared -- the White-breasted Nuthatch.
