Four Squirrels Run Free

In February, kind people brought in four squirrels that were in a tree that was cut down.  Only about 3 weeks old, they still required care.  Healthy, but just separated from their Mom, the squirrels just needed some TLC and time.

Release day in May in Warrensburg at a Volunteer's house with plenty of woods was fun to watch the squirrels pile out of their den and experience their surroundings. They tasted and smelled everything!  The den box gave them shelter and protection for the first days as they learned about their new surroundings.  The FOLNC will provide extra sunflower seed and nuts to give them some support.

This makes all our work worth it!  There's nothing happier than a good release .

The photos in the gallery give an idea of the delight these squirrels take in their freedom!
