Lakeside Nature Center is open year round. Naturalists present innovative programs covering a broad range of ecological topics. The Center exhibits wildlife native to the area and our programs are designed to encourage interest in nature and the environment. Check out our listing here and call (816) 513-8960 for additional information and opportunities.

Teachers or team leaders work with Naturalists to design a wildlife program and outdoor hike for their students.

Use the scavenger hunt to add to the fun of a visit to the center.

Outdoor Learning Lab is designed to complement and expand classroom studies about the natural world.  You, as the teacher or leader, choose objectives that you would like to emphasize based upon themes that we present to customize the experience for your group.
Due to staffing shortages, outdoor school opportunities are currently very limited.

Opportunities for Scouts include individualized badge days, Webelo badges, Brownie Try-it and Girl Scouts Wildlife badges.

Students have said our Homeschool Science Lab is awesome. Scholars meet one day a week for five to six weeks. Each class lasts about 2 hours. Lots of hands-on activities and habitat exploration help support their home studies. Classes are designed for first through fifth grade students. Call (816) 513-8960 about our next scheduled classes or to be added to our mailing list.

Mother Nature Reads each Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m., Friends of Lakeside Nature Center volunteers read a nature based story, provide a fun craft, and show one of our resident animals to the children. No fee, donations are welcome.
