Celebrating Scouts

$10

Join us for a day of celebrating Girls Scouts and Cub Scouts. Activities will focus on badges and adventures for scouts 6-12 years of age.
$10 admission fee, registration is required. Event has a cap of 100 scouts. Lunch on your own from 12:00 to 12:30.
Scouts will receive a ‘fun’ patch and be able to participate in 6 activities that can be applied to aspects of many badges and adventures.
Below are brief descriptions of 6 stations that scouts can participate in.

Giving a Helping Hand to Animals
-learn about basics of animal care
-learn about wildlife diets and needs
-create bird seed recipes
-make a pinecone bird feeder

Wilderness Detectives
-learn about bird watching
-learn about animal tracks
-learn about patterns and shapes of nature
-make rubbings of natural objects 

Conservation Station
-learn about protecting wild habitats
-learn about some of Missouri’s endangered animals
-learn how trash affects wildlife
-make a butterfly puddler 

Become a Leaf Geek
-learn how to ID local native trees and plants
-learn about planting native
-learn how to age trees
-make a seed ball with native seeds

Let’s Go Outside!
-learn what you need to know before you go on an outdoor adventure
-Leave No Trace
-Be Aware: things to avoid
-make a pocket first aid kit

Up Close with Nature
-learn about and observe insects and other small wonders
-look at nature through a magnifying glass
-take a hula hoop hike
-make a nature journal

Scouts can also participate in a Guided Hike and/or Wildlife Program. Hike is weather dependent.

Sign-up is required, as space is limited to 25 participants for each activity (not including chaperones). Reserve your spot(s) when you register for the event. 

Guided Hike  –  Scouts can learn about habitats, signs of nature, trail use rules, and more. 

 Wildlife Program  –  Scouts can meet some of our animal ambassadors. They will learn about indicator and endangered species, native vs. non-native, how we care for animals at Lakeside Nature Center.
