Internships

How to Help > Interships

Lakeside Nature Center has an Intern Program that offers opportunities for college level students to earn experience and credit for their continuing education program. Priority is given to students that are studying animal, conservation and/or environmental related programs. Students that are in middle to final stages of continued education are preferred.

Intern opportunities are offered throughout the year, though more slots are available during the summer program of June-August. Interns are asked to participate a minimum of 6 weeks in the program with option to stay longer. Typically, interns will work alongside Nature Center staff, 3 days a week for 8 hours a day. However, reduced days and hours will be considered for students that are taking additional classes and working other jobs. This is not a paid program; interns are volunteers through the KC Parks and Recreation Department.

For more information about participating in this program fill out our Internship Inquiry Form or contact Lakeside Nature Center Director: Jacque Blessington at (816) 513-8965.
