Celebrating Scouts

$10Celebrate Girls Scouts and Cub Scouts with activities to earn components of a variety of badges and adventures. For scouts 6-12 years of age.
Scouts will receive a ‘fun’ patch and be able to participate in various activities that can be applied to aspects of many badges and adventures.
Scouts can also participate in one of 4 guided hikes and/or 4 wildlife programs. (Sign-ups required, space is limited to 25 scouts per hike or program.)
$10 event admission fee, registration is required. At this time we can only take payment in the form of cash, check, or money order. Payment will need to be received within the week of the reservation to ensure spots are available. Participation can be done by troops, packs, groups or individuals. This event has a maximum capacity of 100 scouts.

Scouts can participate in these 6 stations (open from 10 am to 2 pm):
Giving a Helping Hand to Animals
• learn about basics of animal care
• learn about wildlife diets and needs
• create bird seed recipes
• make a pinecone bird feeder to take home
Let’s Go Outside!
• learn what you need to know before you go on an outdoor adventure
• leave no trace
• be aware: things to avoid
• make a pocket first aid kit to take home
Conservation Station
• learn about protecting wild habitats
• learn about some of Missouri’s endangered animals
• learn how trash affects wildlife
• make a toad abode to take home
Up Close with Nature
• learn about and observe insects and other small wonders
• look at nature through a magnifying glass
• take a hula hoop hike
• make a bug hotel to take home
Become a Leaf Geek
• learn how to ID local native trees and plants
vlearn about planting native
• earn how to age trees
• make a seed ball with native seeds to take home
Wilderness Detectives
• learn about bird watching
• learn about animal tracks
• learn about patterns and shapes of nature
• make rubbings of natural objects to take home
Guided Hikes
• learn about habitats
• learn about signs of nature
• learn about trail use rules and more
Wildlife Program
Scouts can sign up for a Wildlife
• meet some of our Animal Ambassadors
• learn about indicator and endangered species
• learn about native vs. non-native species
• learn about how we care for animals at Lakeside Nature Center
