Design Through Maintenance – A 3-Part Native Plant Classroom Series
A technical guide to designing, building, and sustaining ecological landscapes. Native plant communities, rooted in history dating back to the last ice age and beyond, are ancient—but our modern methods for designing and, more importantly, maintaining them are still developing. These ecosystems persist because of human interaction. This course invites you to join a new conversation that explores design, installation, and every facet of ecological landscaping through the critical lens of long-term management.
This three-part class dives deep into practical processes and systems to strengthen your understanding of native plant ecology—and how to become a better steward, designer, and maintenance manager.
Each participant will select a real-world site to design, with the course culminating in the creation and realization of their own unique landscape plan.
Taught by William Gibson  owner of Down to Earth Services, Green Thumb Gardens and Common Nature
Registration is not required but RSVP’s are appreciated.
Attendance of all three classes is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to receive the full benefit of your individual landscape plan.
