Run for Raptors Rain Cancellation

Due to the trails at Swope Park being closed from rain, the Run for Raptors Race Committee has made the very difficult decision to cancel this year’s race. As stated on our website, there was not an option for a rain date this year due to scheduling conflicts.

Although we cannot race on the trails, we are instead inviting everyone to Lakeside Nature Center from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 5, to see the birds, participate in the raffle and pick up your medals. We will also have snacks and drinks available. If you ordered a shirt you can pick it up Saturday as well.

We will still have volunteers at the Nature Center on Friday, August 4th from 10AM–4PM for packet pickup, where you can also get your shirts and medals, if preferred to Saturday. We will have the raffle set up on Friday as well; you do not need to be present to claim your raffle prize and we will reach out to winners Saturday afternoon.

We are so sorry the race could not happen this year—unfortunately the weather was not on our side and the trails have been closed the majority of the week. We hope you can instead join us at Lakeside Nature Center and meet some of our amazing raptor ambassadors for whom we race!
